Vamos is ideally situated at a strategic point allowing short excursions to other places of interest in the Chania region:
1. Vamos - Kefalas - Kokkino Xorio - Gavalochori - Douliana - Vamos, asphalt road, 28 km An asphalt road through well-preserved traditional neighbourhoods, the combination of medieval, 19 century, and nowdays architecture, impressive village churches, old schools, pass by cultivated and wild nature with a view on the Northern Cretan sea and the White Mountains, meet the locals on the villages squares.

2. Vamos - Therisos - asphalt road, 45 km/35 km (return). A beautiful asphalt road till 1000m height with a breathtaking view of Souda bay, through the amazing nature structure, passing by the gorges of Macheri, Diktamos, and Therisos, dramatic nature changes with wild dry hills and green forest hills, old rustic villages.

3. Vamos - Georgoupoli - Lake Kournas - waterfalls of Argiroupoli, 25 km A nice asphalt road enjoying the White Mountains view on the right, and the Georgoupoli bay on the left, reach the Lake after Georgoupoli, where you can enjoy the flora and fauna of the lake by doing some water-bicycle, drive to Argiroupoli via Kournas Village, where you admire the rich green nature and the fresh waterfalls.

4. Vamos - Kalamitsi Aleksandrou - Vrises-Alikambos - Vafes - Fres - Pemonia - Kania - Vamos, asphalt road 28 km An easy asphalt road through traditional villages, green forest road, a stop for a Greek yogurt and honey under the big planes in Vrisses aside by the river, and for the fan of the wines- Wine testing in the best Cretan wine producer in the area, Durakis wine, in Alikambos.

5. Vamos - Askifou - Choria Sfakion - Anopolis, asphalt road, 65 km Dramatic nature changes passing the White Mountains, leaving back to the north, driving into the plains of Askifou, enjoy the view of Imbros Gorge (easy walking gorge, 2 Β½ hours walk) and the Libyan Sea. When you arrive at Chora Sfakion, a small village with taverns, take the road heading west to the scenic village of Anopoli.
